Acquiring Yanggu Company—Those Days of Striving Hard——Zhou Hongbing, Deputy General Manager of Administration at Jiaozuo Company

2024 has been a year full of both opportunities and challenges for the company, and I’ve been fortunate to be deeply involved, witnessing and driving the company’s critical progress in developing and building channels in the Henan market. This experience has been profoundly meaningful to me and is one that I’ll cherish forever.
On May 7, 2020, I experienced a milestone moment in my life. At 8:30 a.m. that day, I joined Zhang Sixia, Chairman of the Board; Zhang Chuangye, Chairman of Jiaozuo Hanhe; and Sun Liqiang, General Manager, to attend the meeting at which Jiaozuo Hanhe signed an investment agreement for a comprehensive relocation with the Shanyang District Government. The meeting concluded smoothly at 10:00 a.m. Immediately afterward, our headquarters driver, Old Liu, drove me and our boss, Zhang Sixia, to the Yanggu Company. When we arrived at the Yanggu Company at 1:30 p.m., it was pouring rain, and the cargo yard and roads were severely flooded. Without a second thought, our boss stepped right into the flooded workshop to conduct an on-site inspection.
Around 4 p.m. on May 7, Zhang Jiangang, the CFO of the Jiaozuo company, and Zhang Hongbo rushed to Yanggu. Together with General Manager Ma and Zhao Chuanhai (who was still an employee of Nexen at the time), they went to the Yanggu County Administrative Service Center to handle the registration procedures for Hanhe Yanggu Company. Leaders from the Yanggu County Bureau of Industry and Information Technology and Xihu Town provided tremendous support and assistance. However, due to the large volume of data involved in the changes and registration process, they were unable to complete everything on that day. The next morning, they successfully obtained the business license and the official company seal, thereby completing the registration.
To expedite the construction and operation of Yanggu Company, starting from May 9, the company launched an intensive effort to establish its organizational structure and begin recruitment. I spent two months stationed at Yanggu Company, living in a rented apartment together with Sun Liqiang and Deputy General Manager Dong Jian from headquarters. Together, we devoted ourselves wholeheartedly to tasks such as renovating the factory buildings, reconfiguring the cargo yard, and upgrading equipment. Working in close collaboration and overcoming numerous challenges, we successfully completed the tasks assigned by headquarters by the end of 2020—achieving investment and production within the same year, thereby perfectly demonstrating Hanhe’s speed and efficiency.
Looking back on that period, although the tasks were daunting and the workload was intense, every effort we made felt especially meaningful in pursuit of the company’s long-term development. We’ve witnessed Yanggu Company’s remarkable journey—from starting from scratch to growing steadily larger—and we’re deeply proud to have taken a solid step forward with Hanhe Cable on its new path of growth. This experience not only deepened the bonds among our team members but also enabled us to accumulate invaluable lessons and laid a strong foundation for tackling future challenges. The road ahead for Hanhe Cable has been fraught with difficulties, yet precisely because of these challenges, each achievement we’ve made feels all the more precious. I’m truly fortunate to have been part of this journey and to have contributed my own small part—this will remain an unforgettable and pride-inducing chapter in my career.

Throughout my long journey in the cable industry, I personally took part in the pilot production of the 500kV, 2500mm² cross-linked polyethylene-insulated, smooth-aluminum-sheathed cable manufactured by Jiaozuo Hanhe in Jiaozuo. This experience is like a brilliant pearl, deeply embedded in the annals of my career, constantly inspiring me to keep moving forward.
